The Foundation of Freedom is the Courage of Ordinary People

History  Bert '53  On Line

Fun and games near the Yalu ...

With 8th Army fighting recovering from the initial Chinese ambushes and driving the Chinese and North Koreans back across the 38th parallel, this Recon Patrol into enemy territory was alert but relaxed.

"Pete" Petersen, 17th RCT I&R platoon, 7th Infantry Division, North Korea, 1951

Pete

Photo of Pete taken in enemy territory. Not actually firing the .50 cal - just clowning. No - we weren't that sloppy. That .30 cal A6 machine gun handle poking out of the back seat had a bipod on it. So we could grab it, drop it and shoot.
