Some Stewards aboard HMAS Sydney


The Tankers are the energy source for the Navy ships, a ship's Stewards attend to nutritional needs.

Here, a group of Stewards on Sydney are having a chin wag during a break in their duties, to chew the fat and no doubt spin a few yarns. Some were Ex-Royal Navy bods. The pic of the steward left row front is Jerry Fulton, from Belfast Ireland. He and I served together on the same ships for over four years. Though privileged to hear all that was discussed by the ship's officers, Stewards usually respected the privilege and kept mum.
